Urinary problems in cats can be a painful and recurring problem. Cats with weakened immune systems, such as those that are already ill or elderly, are at a greater risk for urinary issues. Although there are other causes, bacteria is often to blame for bladder problems in cats. Animals that are overweight or that have long hair tend to be less able to clean the feces from around their genitals and this can predispose them to bladder infections. In many cases, these problems in cats can be greatly reduced, or avoided entirely with preventative care.

Of course, little persuasion should be needed as to the prudence of taking care in the sun. It may surprise some to learn that animals too can be just as susceptible to the sun's rays, and family pets that spend a lot of time outdoors can be at a far greater risk of developing skin cancer than those confined to an indoor environment.

For example, dogs with short white coats and light coloured skin such as Dalmatians, Bull Terriers, Whippets and Greyhounds are most at risk from developing sun-induced disorders later in life.

More Water

You should also consider your cat's water source. Tap water that has chemicals in it that may not be appealing to your cat and so it may not drink as much as it needs. This can cause urine to thicken and slow down. The cat won't eliminate all of the urine from the bladder and this will encourage bacterial growth. Make sure that your cat has access to clean, pure water at all times. You can't make him drink it but making it available when he wants it may help prevent urinary problems.

They require more maintenance which will properly amounts to more physical contact unless you delegate this to someone else. Normal oil production is readily apparent on the surface of their skin and can easily rub off on furniture, bedding, floors and other surfaces that they frequent. Proper maintenance should include regularly scheduled baths to keep these oils from becoming a problem.

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in dogs, and the second most common type of cancer in cats. But if it's detected early enough then treatment is a genuine option, though it's likely to incur considerable fees from the vet - which is why it's important to have adequate pet insurance in place.

Because they are so affectionate and enjoy cuddling, you are likely to receive more licks, and kisses. When the saliva dries, it can easily flake off and become airborne causing problems for those who suffer with allergies and allergic asthma

Fleas can be one of the most irritating things of having a pet. Your pet also gets highly uncomfortable by them. They can bite your pet and people also. There are many ways to get rid of these fleas which are always become the source of itchiness and annoyances for your pets as well. You should adopt natural ways to remove these unwelcoming guests from your home. There are many chemicals for flea control but these chemicals can be harmful for you and for your pet. That's why majority of people remain worried once own a pet and do not use chemicals in order to remove fleas from their homes.

Insecticides for Pets are Full of Chemicals

As you know, there are many insecticides that you can buy at a pet store to treat fleas. Because of the growing resistance of fleas to these insecticides, manufacturers keep making the chemicals in these products stronger. This could very well poison your animal. There are many cases of even children getting poisoned after handling an animal treated with these chemicals recommended for the treatment of fleas in animals.

If these chemicals are hazardous for humans, as it clearly says on the labels, they are also harmful to your pets. Yet they are recommended by veterinarians and the health care industry. They tell you to bathe your pet in these strong chemicals which get into their blood through their skin. This is poisoning the animals!

Garlic: it is highly wrong assumption that by giving your pet garlic in the food, you can get rid of flea. It can damage your pet digestive system but cannot damage fleas. So don't try to use garlic in your pet foods.

Is grass an essential part of my pet's diet?
What we know:

  • Our pets need fiber as part of a balanced diet.
  • Grass is mostly fiber.
  • Cows graze. Horses graze. They don't throw up when they eat grass. (Rumination doesn't count.)
  • Horses, cows, sheep and other regular grazers have special enzymes in their systems that help digest grass.
  • Dogs and cats don't have the above-mentioned enzymes in their systems.
  • Dogs and cats are very likely to throw up after eating a quantity of grass.
  • If ingested grass isn't regurgitated by a cat or dog, it will be passed, undigested, in the stool.
  • Feral cats and dogs, as well as wild canine and feline animals will graze occasionally and it seems to have the same effect on them.
  • Dogs and cats that aren't allowed to eat grass don't suffer any directly related ill effects.

What we might conclude:
While grazing might be tasty or simply habitual for your dog or cat, it doesn't appear to be necessary for good health. Fiber comes in many forms and if your pet is getting a well-balanced diet, it will include more suitable sources of fiber.
