Desert iguana is a kind of animal which is spotted by many. There are many people who claimed that they have seen iguanas in theirs yards and are lhainding behind rocks. It is present in nature of iguanas to eat flowers, leaves and bushes. Iguana transposes its color from grey to pure white, this transposition of color totally depends on its body temperature. Desert iguana have ability to change its color, by midday its changes its color to white and it wears darkest color in morning.
Dispsosaurus dorsalis is the scientific name of desert iguana and its commonly founds in california deserts and South central Arizona. Arid habitats, sandy rocks and bushes are some places which are best for iguanas to live. one other place which iguanas find place in alread abandoned burrows of these rats. In habitats of southern the iguanas can be usually deciduos forests and subtropical places.
Description of the Desert Iguana
When the desert iguana matures, its growth ranges from ten up to sixteen inches long. The body becomes rounded and large. The tail grows long. The head becomes brown-colored which specifically follows a netlike outline that is reddish brown in hue. The desert iguana's neck and trunk contain tan and grayish spots. Greyish or white spots are possesses on tail of desert iguanas. During summer season, iguanas climb up into bushes to seek cooler areas. Desert iguanas can remain active during hot climate.
Since the desert iguanas seek refuge from the bushes, they are known to be vegetarians. Green plants are best food for iguanas so they are scientifically classified as herbivorse. The most likeable food for desert iguana is yellowish flower of creosote bush. Carrion, insects and feces of lizards are some foods which is most commonly eaten by desert iguanas. Desert iguana is not a dangerous animal for humans.
The desert iguanas can move in faster speed. Iguanas can cross roads just simply ahead of cars with great speed. The back legs of iguanas are very powerful which helps them for such kind of movement. For your pet iguana there are many predators which can damage iguanas, some of these predators are human beigns, rats and foxes. The eggs of the desert green iguana is also being attacked and eaten by most animals.
The Desert Iguana's Breeding Season
At the middle period of the month of March, the desert green iguana start to come out from its long period of hibernation. April to May is a season which is known as breeding season for desert iguana. Desert iguanas are expected to lay two to ten eggs in between months of may and june, these eggs will be hatched by later part of july till august. During breeding seasons the adult iguanas have pink color at side of iguana's bellies.
