Pet Stairs: Not Only For Old Or Disabled Dogs!

admin

, , , ,

It might surprise you, but the number of American households that have dogs averages about 63%, or roughly seventy million families. Are you one of these families? Dogs are not only a great form of protection and security, they’re also terrific companions and can be loyal until the end, which could be sooner rather than later if you don’t take preventative measures to ensure that your dog remains in top health. This includes the use of dog ramps and steps. You’re probably unsure how these items can extend your dog’s health, but read on to find out just how important pet ramps and stairs can be.

No matter what breed of dog you have, or how young he is, he is not impervious to joint or spinal injuries that can be cause from jumping to and from furniture and other objects. Of course some breeds are especially susceptible to injury from jumping, such as Pomeranians, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, and other breeds that have short legs, fragile bones, or long spines.

The ramps and stairs are "cushy" and will help keep joint impact to a minimum, as there is no longer a need to jump. This accessory will also reduce the chance of your doggy developing laziness as an alternative to painful jumping. We know you care about your pet friend and there are many benefits to reap from using pet stairs. Where can you go wrong? It prevents injuries, promotes healing and reduces jumping. They are also washable, so they are not something you have to keep replacing.

There are many stylish dog ramps and steps out there. If you have a breed, such as a Rottweiler or a Pit bull that is more prone to hip dysplasia, then this should be a must have in your home. Apart from hip dysplasia, it will also help those dogs that are prone to spinal and join problems, arthritis, bone wobblers syndrome, bone defects, osteopathy, bone tumors, diabetes, cancer and many other health issues. Vets know what is best for your furry friend, which is why they recommend the steps and ramps for that furry friend.

Keeping a Pet on a Budget

Surviving the credit crunch is difficult enough, but when you have pets which rely on you for sustenance, protection and medical attention, every little bit helps.
It’s a shame that many animals are given up or abandoned every day, as pet owners fight to cope with today’s financial climate.
This is very thorny for animal charities who have look after pets when money is in short supply, surviving on contributions to keep their animals in good health.
Here are a few points which should help make looking after a pet on a tight budget more manageable:
1. Consider every pet cost? Do you need that specific pet food or product? Easier said than done, bring pets up with variety, both dry and wet, as well as different brands and flavours. Watch out for promotions. You can stock up. Consider vouchers, search on the net for some promotions. Buy based on price per pound / Kg, as sometimes, principally with promotions, the smaller pack can be cheaper.
2.      Wherever possible, pet owners can often club together to buy feed and bedding in bulk, reducing the total price and passing on savings to all.
3.      Vets bills are an unknown factor but still have to be considered. If cash is a little difficult, you may find a lot of Vets will allow you to spread the cost, and pay in instalments. If you can, afford it – have or keep pet insurance.
4.      Can you change the way you live? It’s not all about finding ways to keep your pet more cheaply, see if you can do it for yourself!
5. What about earning some money? Why not offer to walk other peoples pet? Dog Walking as a profession Good companies will require you do it regularly. Another alternative is to become a pet sitter, though good businesses such as London Pet Sitting will require you also to do dog walking.
6. Do not forget your other pets, you may have put your cats in a cattery, what about using a cat sitter? The pet may prefer it and the pet sitters often do other things.
7.      Do use external stabling or boarding? Most horses can exist quite cheerfully outside for most of the year, just make sure there’s food, water and protection to harsh elements available. If this is a suitable option for your horse, it could diminish the cost of stabling significantly.
8. Are you thinking of choosing a pet, certainly think about rescuing an animal from a charity, they are suffering at the moment.
Enjoy your pet, they are worth the cost.
